Because empowering speeds up time

We exist because the circular transition is faster when done together.

The European Center for Circular Building and Transformation is a transnational hub where knowledge, practice, and ambition converge. Not to talk about the circular future, but to build the conditions for it. We do this across Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands, one project and one partnership at a time.

The future is circular. Transition from traditional waste to sustainable, modular value. Embrace the new standard: designing for resilience, longevity, and a waste-free world.

Why we exist

There’s no shortage of knowledge about circular construction. What’s been missing is the connective tissue.

Research institutions, market players, governments, and housing organisations are all working on circularity. Rarely together, rarely across borders, and rarely in ways that move fast enough to match the scale of the challenge. The ECCBT was founded to change that.

Rooted in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine, a region that once extracted fuel from the ground and now finds new value in what’s already been built, the ECCBT brings together dozens of partneres to share knowledge, run pilots, and make circular construction the default, not the exception.

How we work

Everything the ECCBT does is grounded in a carefully developed framework. Six interconnected pillars that together form the foundatoin of our approach to the circular transition in construction. They guide how we work with partners, how we develop and share knowledge, and how we measure progress.
